Italian consumer prices rose slightly in August - by 0.3 percent from July - mainly due to an increase in non-regulated energy product and transport service costs, the central statistics agency Istat said.
August inflation climbed 1.4 percent from August last year, Istat reported.
Core inflation - excluding energy and unprocessed food - was 1.0 percent in August, up from 0.8 percent in the previous month, the Istat figures showed.
EU harmonised consumer prices (HICP) nudged up 0.1 percent month-on-month in August and were up 1.4 percent year-on-year, Istat said, confirming a preliminary estimate.
