Italy and its allies are trying to organise a peace conference as part of efforts to end Russia's almost-six-week-old war in Ukraine, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated on Wednesday.
"Italy hopes for a peace conference and we are working towards this together with all our allies and partners," Di Maio said on the sidelines of a NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels.
"A peace conference is a crucial step towards halting the conflict, giving Ukraine back to its people and stopping those atrocious images," he said.
