Italy and Qatar's "excellent bilateral partnership" and bolstering relations including in the energy sector were the focus of talks in Rome Tuesday between premier Mario Draghi and Qatari foreign minister Mohammed al-Thani, Draghi's office said in a statement.
"The exchange of views focused on the excellent bilateral partnership in view of a further strengthening of ties, on energy cooperation and on the principal regional issues, in particular with regards to Afghanistan and Libya," the statement said.
The talks between Draghi and al-Thani, who is also Qatar's deputy premier, took place at Palazzo Chigi on the sidelines of the first strategic dialogue session between their two countries, the statement noted.
