Italy is committed to sustainable development in Somalia that benefits its entire population, deputy foreign minister Emanuela Del Re tweeted on Thursday during a visit to the war-ravaged country.
"Italy will continue to support Somalia's efforts on its path towards sustainable and inclusive development and progress," read the tweet.
Somalia has been riven by civil war since the early 1990s, but over the past decade an African Union-backed peacekeeping force and US troops have wrested back control of the capital, Mogadishu, and large swathes of the country from Al-Qaeda-linked insurgent group Al-Shabaab.
