Italy will send more weapons to war-afflicted Ukraine to help the country defend itself against Russia's more-than-two-month-old invasion, premier Mario Draghi said on Monday.
"More arms are to be sent under an interministerial decree. I don't know which kind at the moment," Draghi announced at a press conference in Rome.
"Our country is democratic one and therefore it's normal to have a range of views. But Italy's position on foreign policy, on the war in Ukraine and our loyalty to our allies is not in question," he said.
Polls have show that Italian public opinion about sending weapons to Ukraine is more divided than in other Western nation.
As a founder member of the European Union and a country that plays a leading role in NATO, "Italy acts in defence of these core values," Draghi underlined.
Draghi's cabinet adopted a first decree to send military vehicles, material and equipment for Ukraine in late February.
