Italy's massive public debt which fell to 2.1847 trillion euros in August, 15.5 billion euros less than in July, the central bank said on Wednesday.
Tax revenues climbed by 1.2 billion euros in August to reach 33.7 billion euros, up 1.2 billion from August last year, the Bank of Italy said.
The privatisation of Italy's postal service this month should raise up to 3.7 billion euros of revenue and is expected to be followed by the selling-off of air traffic controller Enav and Italian state railways (FS).
