Libya's prime minister Fayez al-Serraj is set to arrive in Rome "in a matter of hours", unnamed sources told Adnkronos on Thursday.
The visit - understood to be a private one - could be "as soon as tomorrow", according to the sources. They gave no information on Sarraj's planned meetings and the agenda for any talks he may have.
Sarraj has agreed to stay on until as prime minister until Libya's rival political forces agree on a new government in ongoing talks. Italy supports the internationally recognised Tripoli-based government led by Sarraj.
