The Med-Or Foundation has signed an agreement with Lebanon's foreign ministry to foster Italian language teaching and give scholarships and professional training in a range of areas offered by Italian universities.
“With this agreement, Med-Or is committed to setting up the core of its mission in the fields of cultural promotion and higher education in Lebanon, which represents an important partner for us in a strategic area such as the Near East," said Marco Minniti, Chairman of the Med-Or Foundation.
Recent times have been tough for Lebanon and the Med-Or Foundation's training agreement with its government may seem "minor" compared to the vast needs of the needs of crisis-hit country's population, Minniti noted.
"But for us, as for Italy, Lebanon is a key country, whose stability and well-being are crucial for the whole Middle East region," he underlined.
The accord will "seek to increasingly strengthen the positive relations of cooperation and exchange between Italy and Lebanon," Minniti argued.
Its activities will support the training of young Lebanese who are willing to serve their country and its "reawakening and renewal," he said.
Tuesday's agreement was signed at the Med-Or Foundation's headquarters in Rome, by Minniti and Lebanon's ambassador to Italy, Mira Daher.
