Italy's foreign minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi on Monday met his German counterpart Heiko Maas on the sidelines of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The talks between Moavero and Maas centred on "the principal topical issues in the two countries' bilateral relations and within the EU," the statement said without giving further details.
EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting agenda includes the 28-member bloc's global strategy, common foreign and security policy and the political standoff in Sudan between its ruling transitional military junta and a coalition of pro-democracy protesters and opposition parties.
After the Foreign Affairs Council summit, Moavero was due to attend a working lunch on the Middle East with Jordan's foreign minister Ayman Safadi, according to the foreign ministry.
