A total 73 migrants were saved in the Mediterranean early on Thursday including women and young children, the Open Arms charity said.
There were 69 men, four women, two children aged 3 and 4 and 24 minors travelling alone aboard the boat, which was adrift, Open Arms said.
Some of the rescued migrants had gunshot wounds and/or second or third degree burns while others were suffering from severe hypothermia, shock or dehydration, the charity said.
