Pope Francis is sure that he is a sinner and goes to confesses every 15-20 days, he told weekly magazine Credere in an interview published on the Vatican press office website on Wednesday.
"I'm a sinner. I feel a sinner, I am certain that I am one," the weekly quoted the Argentine pontiff as saying.
"I'm a sinner whom the Lord looks upon with mercy. As I told inmates in Bolivia, I am a forgiven man. Even now I make mistakes and commit sins and I confess every 15 to 20 days," he said.
When he was a 17-year-old youth, he felt compelled to enter a church one Spring bank holiday and confess to a priest inside, Francis said.
"I don't know what happened, but it changed me. I went home knowing I had to become a priest," he said.
