Qatar's deputy foreign minister Lolwah Alkhate has praised Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio for the interest he showed in Afghan refugees during his recent visit to Doha.
"He took the time to speak to every kid he saw, sat down with the Afghan Abdulnasser’s family, stopped by the operation room to greet every member in the team that is taking care of our brothers and sisters from Afghanistan," Alkhate tweeted.
"Grazie molte (thank you very much)," the tweet added.
Di Maio earlier this month visited Qatar - a key player in Afghanistan, where the Taliban seized power in mid-August.
During his stay in Doha, Di Maio visited a centre housing hundreds of Afghans who have fled their homeland since the Taliban takeover.
