A 17-year-old apprentice pilot and his 27-year-old instructor died when their ultralight plane crashed near the northern Italian city of Cremona on Friday.
The unnamed teenager had passed his licence and was gaining flying hours when the plane crashed in countryside after taking off from Dovera airfield, 30 kilometres southeast of Milan.
Police and fire services said the aircraft was "completely destroyed" in the impact when it crashed by a local cattle farm.
Police have opened an investigation into the accident.
