Christians must give concrete help to those who suffer - it is not enough just to say we feel sorry for them, Pope Francis said on Tuesday.
"As Christians, we must be able to assist people who are suffering. This is our job," Francis said in a sermon as he celebrated mass at the Vatican's Santa Marta residence.
A good Christian does not look on, Francis underlined.
"We should get up close and physically touch reality - not watch it from afar," Francis stated, giving the example of a miracle worked by Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Luke.
