SAN JOSE, California, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- VisualOn Inc., a multimedia software company that enables high-quality video and audio across connected devices, today announced Deutsche Glasfaser as a new international customer – powering Deutsche Glasfaser's DGTV app on the iOS, Android and desktop platforms. By integrating VisualOn's OnStream MediaPlayer+, a solution supporting high-quality playback across any connected device, with Verimatrix's revenue security solution, Deutsche Glasfaser can now provide its customers with secure linear TV, radio, video-on-demand (VOD) and multiscreen services to regional subscribers in Germany. Deutsche Glasfaser's multiscreen service – launching in October 2014 – will stream approximately 100 SD and 50 HD channels, in addition to 100 radio stations.

Deutsche Glasfaser is launching a state-of-the-art media platform with multi-device support (set top box, smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, PC's and game consoles) that can host multiple service providers with individual service offerings and branding. The DGTV service will leverage the unique qualities of fiber to the home – providing Internet speeds that's 20 to 100 times as fast as typical Cable and DSL modems.

"We wanted to provide our customers with a wide variety of IPTV and multiscreen video services at a superior level, rivaling what's offered in urban markets," said Niels Jonkman, Business Manager Deutsche Glasfaser. "In order to meet our business objectives, we chose the VisualOn platform for its exceptional image quality, large and feature rich platform, and the flexibility of its software, allowing us to stay one step ahead of customer demand."

"We are pleased to partner with Deutsche Glasfaser, which operates one of Germany's most advanced and far-reaching fiber to the home networks," said Andy Lin, CEO of VisualOn. "Our software-defined media player ensures smooth playback across multiple platforms, and enables Deutsche Glasfaser to scale its services more rapidly, thereby offering a growing portfolio of new products and multiscreen services to its subscriber base."
