Rome's mayor Virginia Raggi is "doing a great job" also in countering the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the capital, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated on Monday after meeting Raggi at the foreign ministry .
"Virginia came to see me today. We had an in-depth conversation and I thanked her for the great job she is doing, also during this (Covid-19) emergency," Di Maio wrote on Facebook.
Rome has been relatively unscathed by Italy's dramatic Covid-19 epidemic which has claimed almost 33,000 lives and infected over 230,000 people nationwide, according to official figures.
Di Maio and Raggi belong to the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement which is currently governing Italy with the centre-left.
