During a visit to Rome by Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain and Italy were set to ink a raft of business, scientific and cultural accords as the two countries seek to intensify bilateral relations.
The signing ceremony was due to take place at the foreign ministry and the agreements span the culture, scientific, medical, health, aerospace, economy and tourism sectors.
Accompanied by a political and business delegation, Al Khalifa travelled to Rome to inaugurate his country's embassy in Italy and was also due to attend the AssAfrica&Mediterraneo business forum during his visit.
Al Khalifa held talks late Monday with Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte that centred on "opportunities to grow bilateral partnerships" and "shared international challenges and the stabilisation of the entire Middle East region," Conte's office said in a statement.
