Italy actively seeking "strengthened dialogue" with Germany after the wide-ranging friendship pact inked last month between Rome and Paris, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated on Friday.

"We are working on strengthened dialogue with Germany after the signing of the Qurinale Treaty with France," Di Maio said.

Di Maio was speaking at the launch in Rome of the Decode39 bilingual geopolitics website, which offers analysis from Italy in English and Arabic.

"In recent days, we have had the first discussions between the Italian and German foreign ministries," Di Maio stated.

Italy has also enhanced dialogue with Spain over the past 18 months and is "well place to strengthen Europe's leadership through bilateral accords with partners," Di Maio said.
