A teenager in southern Italy was on Wednesday arrested over his mother's murder after trying to pass off the crime an accident and having "I Love You Mum" tattooed on his arm.
Police arrested the youth after bugs planted at the family home near the Calabrian city of Cosenza picked up conversations between him and his father.
His mother, piano teacher Patrizia Schettini, was found dead with her neck broken at the foot of a flight of stairs at the family's house on 1 April.
The youth was questioned several times over his mother's death and eventually confessed to having killed her when he "lost it" during one of their frequent arguments and pushed her down the stairs.
"She criticised me too much," the youth told investigators.
Investigators claim the youth strangled his mother and slammed her against a wall, breaking her neck, before throwing her body down the stairs to make it appear she had fallen.
